On March 23, 2020, Virginia’s Governor Ralph Northam announced that all public schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia will remain closed for the remainder of the school year. While the public schools in Arlington, Fairfax, and the City of Alexandria adapted for distance instruction, Edu-Futuro understood that some of the families we serve in Northern Virginia face many challenges. We work together with the public schools to make sure that students and their families don’t get behind. Edu-Futuro has implemented a plan to reach out directly to the families we serve to assess their immediate needs and continue providing direct services throughout the disruption caused by COVID-19. Our staff is working remotely, and is available to provide support to these families. We continue working with local governments and other nonprofit partners to coordinate services as needed.

As part of these efforts, Edu-Futuro has established the COVID-19 Emergency Assistance Fund.

How to Stop the Spread of COVID-19

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and our local health departments have provided the following guidelines to help all of us to protect ourselves from the spread of COVID-19:

  • Wash hands often with soap and water. If not available, use hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Cover your mouth/nose with a tissue or sleeve when coughing or sneezing.
  • Avoid contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home while you are sick and avoid close contact with others.
  • Get your vaccine.
